7 Ways You Can Use The Dry January Trend To Kickstart Real Lifestyle Change

January 10, 2023 | Amanda Green

Dry January started back in 2012 as a challenge to live alcohol-free for 31 days. The trend caught on and now millions of people participate in Dry January every year. For many, the movement is about a lot more than cutting out alcohol. It is about reinventing oneself and creating a healthier lifestyle. But statistics don’t lie. Studies have shown that as many as 80% of New Year Resolutions fail. That’s often because people set unrealistic expectations.

Orca Communications spoke with Georgia Foster, a world-renowned hypnotherapist, top-selling author, international speaker, and creator of life-changing programs about how people can use the Dry January trend to kickstart real lifestyle change:

7 Ways You Can Use The Dry January Trend To Kickstart Real Lifestyle Change:

  1. Drink one big massive glass of water to hydrate yourself before you drink
  2. Alternate between what you are drinking and a glass of water
  3. Finish your drink completely before re-pouring
  4. Have your first drink an hour later than you normally would
  5. Don’t drink while being distracted by chopping vegetables or while at your computer
  6. Make your drinking experience a positive one by really tasting it, savoring it rather than gulping it
  7. Avoid negative people who drive you to drink

Foster’s program, 7 Days to Drink Less, is for people who don’t necessarily want to cut alcohol altogether, but want to feel better and look better. Meanwhile, there’s never been a better time to cut back on alcohol consumption. Non Alcoholic cocktails, bars, and even breweries are popping up all over the country. We’ve curated a list of products to help your new booze-free (or booze-less) life fun and enjoyable:
