“As Seen On” – Top Press Coverage from October 2022
Our publicists have had an exciting month! From a standalone piece in the Wall Street Journal to placements in some of the biggest and most clickable gift guides for the holiday, this is our top press coverage from October.
Platform 88 in the Wall Street Journal
It isn’t every day someone can claim they’ve been featured in one of the biggest newspapers in the entire country as an expert in their industry, but that is exactly what Jacob Rothman of Velong/Platform 88 can tell people this month. Our client offered his unique insider perspective on why companies want to move manufacturing outside of China, and what challenges that presents to the manufacturers in this amazing full-page Wall Street Journal feature exploring “What Comes After ‘Made in China.’”
Platform 88 is a China-based product accelerator that helps startups scale. In the article, Rothman talks about his experiences with manufacturing in Cambodia, Vietnam, and other countries outside of China. He also explains when he started to see customers question about making a shift to other countries.
The placement is a wonderful example of a strategic media pitch that landed in front of the right person in the right place at the right time.
Lots of Holiday Joy for Designer Dram
Fun, unique, giftable products are always a hit with editors during the holiday season. And it’s shaping up to be quite a year for the bespoke whiskey brand, Designer Dram. Seven different publications included the product in gift guides this month.
TODAY.com called it a “gift dad actually wants to receive,” Brides Magazine named it one of this year’s “best personalized gifts for men,” Well + Good says it is “one of the best gift ideas for the people in your life who love experiences more than things,” Prevention and New York Lifestyles Magazine also added it to their gift guides.
My personal favorite Designer Dram placement this month is from a smaller, niche publication. Hills & Valleys Magazine, a luxury media outlet published in Beverly Hills, created its own Designer Dram custom blend and label which editors then placed on the back cover of a recent issue. The posh publication has 60,000 print subscribers and gets about 17,000 unique visitors to its website each month.
GIRLS CAN! Crate in Parents Magazine
Kids are never too young to be inspired! Orca Communications PR publicists worked with editors at Parents.com to include Girls Can! Crate in their list of the “20 best kids subscription boxes to engage your child in 2022.” The crate boxes are designed to inspire young girls to change the world by introducing them to female leaders and heroes throughout history. Parents Magazine named it the “best empowerment box.”
With more than 5 million eyeballs on its website every month, Parents is one of the most popular parenting magazines in America.
Elitone in Forbes
Patience pays off! We are so thrilled to see Gloria Kolb, founder of Elitone, included in a story on Forbes.com that highlights 11 female scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs who are changing the narrative on menopause. Elitone empowers women to regain confidence with a non-intrusive treatment for bladder leaks. 1 in 3 women leak urine when they cough, sneeze, or exercise. The device has received FDA clearance so women can feel both safe and confident!
Our publicist first contacted the writer on this piece nearly a year ago before CES 2022. It is the perfect example that PR often takes time!
Soda Pup in The Spruce Pets
Editors at The Spruce Pets says Soda Pup has one of the 9 Best Chew Toys for Puppies of 2022. They called the American Made, Veteran Owned company’s Soda Can chew toy the “Best Design.” The article goes on to say, “It’s incredibly cute to see a puppy carrying around a bright pink soda can or red coffee cup.”
This is great visibility for our client who is now seen in a top publication alongside big dog toy brands like Kong. The Spruce independently tests and reviews all products included in their articles. A placement like this can add a lot of credibility to a brand in the eyes of the consumer. The Spruce Pets gets 8.6 Million unique views each month.
Tiny Treehouses on Buzzfeed
We are thrilled to share the latest outlet to fall in love with Tiny Treehouses, as Buzzfeed has included a glowing writeup of the DIY decor products in a roundup of items to “give your home a quick seasonal refresh!” Clients love Buzzfeed for visibility and ROI – as you can see in the graphic above nearly 500 shoppers said they were interested in making a purchase of Kickstarter sensation now available in the real world!
Saki in Apartment Therapy
We’ll wrap up this month’s hits list with a wonderful placement for kitchen electronics brand, Saki. The company’s Smart Air Fryer is featured in the holy grail of home sites, ApartmentTherapy.com. The writer in an article called, “I Live in a 500-Square-Foot Studio and These are the 6 Best Gadgets I’ve Found for My Small Kitchen,” says Saki’s air fryer is perfect for a shallow countertop. Apartment Therapy gets more than 12 million unique views monthly, according to the media database, Cision.
