We’re having a fabulous fall season here at Orca Communications. Last month, our clients saw placements in top-tier publications like the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Architectural Digest, and more. This month, our attention turns to those major holiday gift guides that are published every November. In the meantime, here are the top Orca Communications PR placements from October 2023.
Wall Street Journal, CNET, and Apartment Therapy for FlyWithWine
The innovative wine FlyWithWine suitcases are proving to be a favorite with editors this year. The Wall Street Journal quoted a wine industry expert as saying the VinGardeValise suitcase “is the industry standard for wine suitcases in the U.S.A.” and featured it prominently in an article called, “The 10 Best Wine Luggage and Travel Bags for Taking Your Favorite Bottles On the Go.” They also featured the company’s VinXplorer backpack.
As if a prominent feature in the Wall Street Journal wasn’t enough, CNET calls the VinGardeValise one of the best wine gifts for 2023. Editors call it “a perfect gift for your wine-loving friend.” Cheers, to that!
To finish the trifecta of top-tier press, influential home decor publication, Apartment Therapy, gave the VinGardeValise a glowing review in a standalone piece. The writer calls it a “game-changing piece of luggage,” a “traveler’s dream,” and a “pretty good deal for such a specialized piece of luggage.” We think it’s pretty great, too!
Celsius54 in Architectural Digest and Domino
This month had a double hitter for our long-time client Celsius54. This brand consistently launches creative new candle designs. This time, editors gravitated towards their incredibly realistic-looking baguette candle. Architectural Digest included it in a list of “Best Housewarming Gifts”, reminding us that carbs are the center of any dinner party.
Meanwhile, home trends publication Domino dubbed the realistic-looking baguette candle a must have for “grocery girl fall” in a roundup about food decor.
CaskCartel in USA Today’s 10Best Reader Awards & HuffPost
CaskCartel is also feeling the spotlight in the press this month. HuffPost and USA Today both featured the company’s popular advent calendars in holiday-themed articles. HuffPost calls the Premium Bourbon Whiskey Sampler “the ideal gift for the bourbon fan in your life” in an article called, “The 2023 Advent Calendars To Buy Immediately Before They Sell Out.”
Meanwhile, USA Today’s 10Best featured two Cask Cartel Advent Calendars in a piece they call “24 best Advent calendars of 2023 for the countdown to Christmas.” They say the Whiskey Holiday Advent Calendar is “a conversation piece in itself.”
Johnson’s Popcorn in USA Today’s 10Best
It isn’t every day you get to bring new press coverage to a brand that’s been around for 80 years … that is, of course, unless you are one of the Orca Communications publicists working with Johnson’s Popcorn. USA Today featured The New Jersey Boardwalk staple popcorn brand as a nominee in its “Best Gift for Foodies” 10Best Reader’s Awards. As of this writing, we’re still waiting for them to name the winner of the contest, but it was great publicity either way.
FTDNA in Business Insider
Business Insider knows the best DNA tests. So it is no surprise that they included FamilyTree DNA as one of its top four picks. Editors call it the “best for serious genealogists.” That’s because the brand’s Y-DNA and mtDNA tests provide deeper insight into maternal and paternal lines. From a PR perspective, this is gold!
Putt-A-Bout in The Strategist and Southern Living
Putt-A-Bout is having an excellent start to its holiday season. Two major publications included the company’s putting greens in their holiday gift guides. The Strategist, which is part of New York Magazine, calls it a must-have holiday gift for golfers. Meanwhile, Southern Living calls it one of the “Best Gifts for Dad.”
Southern Living names Beyond Cushions and Snowfox “Best Gift for Couples”
We love seeing multiple clients featured in the same article. In this case, it is Beyond Cushions and Snowfox. Editors for Southern Living chose them both in their “Best Gifts for Couples.” The article says about Snowfox, “This thoughtful choice makes a great gift for any occasion from a housewarming to a wedding.” They loved Beyond Cushions’ Skyline Embroidered Pillow. The article says, “These will be a much-treasured addition to any couple’s home decor, reminding them of the special places they’ve been.”
Bad Cards FORE Good Golfers in Golf.com and Golfpass
Golf.com and Golfpass are two websites you want to get a nod from if you have a product that appeals to golfers. Luckily, editors at both of those sites liked Bad Cards FORE Good Golfers. Golf.com named it one of its picks for “Best Golf Games of 2023.” Meanwhile, Golfpass included the entertaining card game in its October Gear Report. Editors say, “As long as you’re mindful of pace of play, the shenanigans from this card game could really deliver a memorable round with your crew.”
Designer Dram in U.S. News & World Report
Lastly, we want to give a huge “cheers!” to Designer Dram for being included in U.S. News & World Report’s gift guide called, “The 8 Best Retirement Gift Ideas for Men.”
