Orca Communications Client Spotlight: Carry It Well

June 23, 2023 | Amanda Green

WELCOME TO THE ORCA COMMUNICATIONS PR CLIENT SPOTLIGHT. EACH MONTH OUR CLIENTS TELL YOU IN THEIR OWN WORDS WHY THEY DO WHAT THEY DO AND PROVIDE TIPS FOR OTHER GROWING SMALL BRANDS AND BUSINESSES.

Carry It Well

Carry It Well and protect your most-loved coats, dresses, suits, and more with these adorable garment bags. The bags are great for travel and storage, and they are available in fun colors and designs. We spoke with the founder, Rebecca Brown, about her motivation behind the brand.

The questions were answered by Carry It Well’s Founder, Rebecca Brown.

You have such a wonderful entrepreneurial story. You started making these garment bags as gifts for friends and family. At what moment did you think, “Gee! I should turn this into a business?”

I started this business when my youngest child was finishing high school and I realized I needed something to occupy myself. I like to create and sew.

Had you run another business before starting Carry It Well? Or is this your first entrepreneurial adventure?

This is not my first entrepreneurial business. Several years ago I made and sold rag vests that were wearable art.

You have so many fun prints and colors. Which one is your favorite design?

I don’t have a favorite print.  Every time I receive a new fabric I love it!

What’s one of the biggest challenges you’ve had to navigate through as you’ve scaled your business?

The biggest challenge was during covid.  People did buy garment bags because they were hopeful for the future. I like to think I sold hope at that time.

What’s something you hope to accomplish for the brand that you haven’t achieved yet?

My sales in Texas are very good but I hope to expand to other parts of the country. I hope to be in larger publications such as Southern living and also national TV spots.

You sell direct-to-consumer from your website, but also on Etsy. What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs who may be thinking about launching their products on Etsy?

If someone wants to sell on etsy I say go for it. I got my start there and it is a great platform.

Now for a question that I ask all of our clients: Name one thing you like about working with Orca Communications.

Orca has helped me be in other markets in the country.

Are there any specific projects or products you’re working on right now that you’d like to share?

Because of the longer dresses now I have added longer bags. People have been buying them more and more.
